170.0. "Jarre's RENDEZ-VOUS for McNair" by BEAGLE::MULELID () Mon Apr 28 1986 03:02
Today it is 3 months since the Challenger tragedy, time pass by
but still the seven are not forgotten.

There is now an album out, from which I will reprint some of the
    text from inside the cover.

The album is called "RENDEZ-VOUS" by the french keyboard player
    Jean-Michel Jarre.

    I quote:

             VERY SPECIAL THANKS
             TO:
Astronaut Bruce McCandless, Cheryl, Reggie and Joy McNair,
Michael Woolcock, NASA's Johnson Space Center, Arthur
Clarke, Harry Golemon - President of the Huston Festival
             Foundation.

                          **************************

This record is dedicated to Ron McNair and the six
astronauts who died abourd the Challenger shuttle on
             28th January, 1986.

             Ron's piece:

This piece was specially composed for Ron to play on his
saxophone in the shuttle and was to become the first
musical piece played and recorded in space. Ron was so
excited about this piece that he rehearsed it continuosly
until the last moment. May the memory of my friend
the astronaut and the artist Ron McNair live on through
             this piece.

                                               Jean-Michel Jarre.

One of the pieces on this album is called "Last rendez-vous
             Ron's Piece"

             Svein.
