Did anyone notice in yesterday's (I think) Boston Globe a picture which AP claimed showed a ship pulling out a piece of the SRB? Something is really screwed up about that. First, it said that it was taken *last month* and released by NASA today. That would mean it was recovered within 2 days of the accident. Secondly, it said that it was on the ship Preserver. That blows my initial theory that it was an SRB from another flight which the Globe irrelavently published, since that is not one of the ships which normally pick up SRBs. Any comments? Burns

I thought that parts of the frustrum of one SRB were found right after the accident, although I may be wrong. -Brian

I saw that photo also, but without the writeup. It looked more like it could have been a section of crew compartment rather than SRB. This would be consistant with the statement of it being an earlier photo just now being released. As of last night's news, they have not yet attempted to raise the found SRB. Photos were made and sent to Marshall Space Center where they have been positively identified. It would appear that the Globe has once again juggled words, captions, and photos. Bill

This same picture was in the Feb 17 Aviation Week with a similar caption. Sigh...If AWST can't get it right, who can? Burns
