111.0. "September 1986 DoD Shuttle" by PYRITE::WEAVER () Fri Dec 20 1985 12:42
Associated Press Wed 18-DEC-1985 01:26 BRF--Shuttle Crew
Crew Named For Defense Department Shuttle Flight
SPACE CENTER, Houston (AP) - Brewster H. Shaw Jr., who commanded
the last space shuttle flight, will be in charge of a Department of
Defense orbital mission set for September, NASA says.
Shaw, 40, became the youngest commander of a shuttle mission
during the weeklong flight that ended Dec. 4. The Defense
Department flight will be his third trip into orbit.
The pilot of the September mission will be Michael McCulley, the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced Tuesday.
Others named to the crew were David C. Leestma, James C. Adamson
and Mark N. Brown. A Defense Department representative will be
named later.
The announcement said that the Defense Department mission will
be launched no earlier than Sept. 4. As with earlier Defense
shuttle flights, the payload and flight duration were not announced.
