2239.0. "SMT versions on UNIX" by 42326::FREKES (Like a thief in the night) Fri Mar 14 1997 11:42

Folks

I need to find the SMT versions in the following cards.

DEFEA - Hardware rev 2 FW = V2.46, combination of UNIX V3.2F, V3.2C, V3.2G
DEFPA - Hardware rev 0 FW = V2.46 UNIX V3.2F

The system types are as follows:
3.2c = alpha server 1000
3.2f = alpha server 1000a
3.2G = Alpha station 200

Alternatively could someone point me to a command to check these out myself.

Is the SMT version something that gets changed when a new version of firmware,
get applied. Where can we get hold of the lastest versions of frimware, with
regard to the operating system versions.

Any input would be greatly appreciatted.

They're both SMT 7.2 or 7.3 (whichever is to your liking).

No, it only gets updated when ANSI comes out with a new SMT specification.
Fortunately, there hasn't been one in several years.

The v3.1 firmware images for DEFEA and DEFPA are available in the new v3.9
Alpha Firmware CD along with a built-in upgrade utility that will take care of
updating the adapters.

I believe the latest spec is 7.3, but it's just minor corrections from 7.2, so
there were no product/FW changes to go to 7.3. In a lot of product literature
(not just ours), you'll find either of these two revisions listed.

Perhaps someone else can provide a definitive answer as to the actual
specification revision.
