2103.0. "DEFEA Firmware Downgrade " by GIDDAY::KULHALLI () Mon Aug 05 1996 23:59

I have a customer problem in which I need to downgrade the defea
firmware from release 2.46 to 2.3.
1 Can someone give me a pointer for this older firmware ? I did not
find it on kali::pcdriver on WWW.
2.After the downgrade - what version of LAN driver ( DEFEA.LAN) to be
used on the NOVELL/SFT/MSL server - which crash while doing backups
thru a ARC server. Currently the servers have defea at firmware rev
of 2.46 and lan driver at 2.80.
    3. The same customer has defea cards on another SFT/MSL servers at
firmware rev of 2.3 and defea driver at 2.24 which according to him
works fine and hence we want to down grade.
    4. Where can I find the instructions for down grading procedure ?

     thanks for any feedback.

    Mohan,

As I mentioned in my email to you, I don't believe the older firmware
is making the difference in your customer's configuration. The v2.46
DEFEA firmware addresses a very real problem that can cause the DEFEA
to halt when the receive buffers overflow. You do NOT want to be
    running the v2.3 firmware.

Now, as someone troubleshooting a problem, downgrading the firmware
would be a test point. However, I'm more interested in your having the
customer load and run the v2.24 DEFEA.LAN driver on the failing system.
If you still get the same failure then perhaps we can pursue the
    firmware angle.
