2084.0. "point to point SAS to DAS ?" by LYOISA::GAUDIEZ () Thu Jul 11 1996 11:49

    Can you tell me if it is possible to connect point to point stations in
    the below configuration :
    One station has a SAS interface and the other has a DAS interface.

2084.1Yes, SAS to DAS connections workNETCAD::THOMPSONThu Jul 11 1996 12:1113

    Yes, you can connect SAS cards to *a* port on the DAS card directly.

    For example, if you are using our PCI/FDDIcontroller (DEFPA), you
    should load the latest drivers, and then connect your cable between
    the SAS port and one of the ports on the DAS card. If the port LEDs
    on both cards are solid green, then you have a valid connection. If
    the port LED on the DAS card isn't solid green, then unplug the cable,
    and plug it into the other port. The LEDs should now be solid green
    and you will have a valid point to point connection.

2084.2and for oldest configuration ?LYOISA::GAUDIEZFri Jul 12 1996 05:1713

    Thanks,

    You are talking about the latest drivers. Is it a new feature of this
    driver that does not exist with oldest configuration ?
    The exactly configuration is a connection between VAXstation 4000 (SAS)
    and AlphaServer 1000 (DAS)
    	Vaxstation OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 with DEC LAN device driver V1.0
    		SAS interface DEFTA-AA
    	AlphaServer 1000 OpenVMS Alpha V6.2
    		DAS interface DEFEA-DA

2084.3SAS-to-DAS works; are the LEDs green?NETCAD::ROLKEInterrupt driven HerefordsMon Jul 15 1996 00:0911
Bernard,

A SAS-to-DAS connection (S-to-A or S-to-B) has been a requirement
since day one. This is not a function of any new drivers.

However, if the connection doesn't work as it should then the first
advice will be to get the latest drivers.

Is your configuration giving you a problem?

    This configuration is not yet installed, but we must answer our
    customer if it is supported and working in the described configuration.
    Thanks for your help.

    Yes, it will work. We've supported this configuration since our first
    FDDI adapter (DEFZA).
