Hi,
I am involved with a benchmarking effort to build a very large voicemail
system. We have 3 8400s (8 CPUs), 6 2100s (2 CPUs) and 3 1000s connected
together via a GIGAswitch.
The application code works great over eithernet (between two nodes), but
when we run over FDDI, we get lots of RPC timeouts, and lost packets.
A test was run using the spray (unix v3.2d) command, and when sending
large packets, everything works great. When spraying small packets,
there is up to 40% lost packets.
We have the equipment available to us for only a few days more (we have
been at this for a few weeks, and have just narrowed down the problem),
so if there is anyone out there who has experience in setting up, or
tuning FDDI networks on digital UNIX, some help or pointers would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
