2068.0. "Link Buffer Unavailables" by OHFSS1::MALOTT (Lost in a Maze of DecNis') Tue Jun 18 1996 10:19
This question has been somewhat addressed before in topics 896,3157
& 3252 in tthe Decnis Conference, but I thought I'd ask here as well to
see if anyone has any ideas regarding the following phenomena:
All DECNIS 600 routers. Not only nodes on rings:

My questions are these:
1. Can anyone help provide some direction as to why the high "Link
Buffer Unavailable" counts on the Hq ring in config above? Please note
there are 2 routers that came up approx the same time & created both
FDDI routing circuits approx same time between two separate rings
(ie Midnet & Hq). However, each router shows no "Link Unavailable Buffers"
on the Midnet side, but many on the Hq side.
2. Does anyone know why the number of frames seen on the FDDI
circuits of these 2 routers would be approx double between one ring and
the other? For example: Usr2a has seen 50206138137 on Hq ring and
104718626531 on Midnet ring. Same goes for Usr2b. Is this of any
significance?
3. Lastly, the Token Ct does not seem to have any consistent
pattern. Some routers show 0, others have some value.
We have a ring we think may have some trouble and answers these
questions would help a great deal.
Thx,
jcm :^)
