2067.0. "defpz....vs defpa and descriptions?" by DOD2::PARKER () Fri Jun 14 1996 11:22

    are there any significant performance differences between the

    	DEFPA - pci fddi controller

    	and the

    	DEFPZ - daughter card fddi controller which plugs into the KFTIA of
    		the 8000 series machines?

    Are there any technical specifications on the DEFPZ anywhere...I am
    doing a proposal writeup and desperately need a technical description
    of the DEFPZ controller.

    thanks in advance..

The DEFPZ is a DEFPA but with a PMC connection instead of the standard
PCI edge connector.

    Exactly. From a SW/programming interface standpoint, the DEFPZ and
    DEFPA are identical.

    The DEFPZ was taken over by the Tech OEM/Real Time group which I
    believe is part of the SBU. Check with George Nielsen (DEFPA PM) for
    a contact point. George can be reached at DELNI::G_NIELSEN.

2067.4DEFPZ is SAS only!NETCAD::MCGRATHTue Jun 18 1996 16:0717
Lisa,

The DEFPZ is almost identical to the DEFPA except for the following:

	Phsyical size, PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) form factor.

        ST fiber optics, DEFPA uses SC fiber optics.

        Uses an adapter (pigtail) cable for UTP version.

	Only supports SAS (single attachment station) config.

As Larry said, software/programming wise they are the same. All DEFPZA
drivers/diags should function on the DEFPZ. For more info contact
Dick Somes (MROA::SOMES) who is currently supporting this module.
