| The part # I have for SC-MIC cables is BN34D. On DEFPA, the link
indicates unavailable by blinking green. If the LED is blinking green,
then the cable is bad, is installed improperly (not crossover), or the
other end is not operational.

| re .1 - We tried using the SC-MIC cable (BN34D-10) and it worked
w/o any problems. The problem is when trying to use a MIC-MIC cable
(BN24B-20) into ports 1 or 2 of the DECconcentrator 900FH.
I checked the firmware rev's for the remaining 4 900FH's that we
have here in Salem and they have the following firmware rev's:
HW=V1 RO=V1.4 SW=V3.2.2
Has anyone actually used a MIC-MIC connection on ports 1 and 2 of
a 900FH successfully before?

| Is the BN24B-20 a MIC-MIC crossover cable? You need to make sure that
the transmit goes to receive and receive goes to transmit, otherwise it
won't work.

| A BN24B (MIC-MIC) works fine in my lab between a DEFHM and a DEFBA.
What is the status of the LEDs. Can you check the port counters on the
DEFHM from HUBwatch?

| I believe we found the problem. The DEFXM was installed without the
plastic M port key installed into ports 1 and 2 of the 900FH. This
allowed the BN24B cable to be connected with the key way up or down.
Since the DECconcentrator 500 only allows for the cable to inserted
in one way, we assumed that the 900FH had the same orientation but
in fact it has the opposite orientation.
Thanks for all your help.
