My customer has purchased 200 Alpha 3000 systems running OpenVMS V5.5-2. They can not upgrade beyond V5.5-2 because this is already certified for this government project and to recertify would cost dollars and take time. They currently use Ethernet, but are looking at using FDDI instead. They would purchase 200 DEFTA-DA's if this decision is made. Are there any gothca's around using the DEFTA-DA with OpenVMS V5.5-2 that would prohibit this configuration? Thanks, Mark

Mark, Please check the SPD to be sure, but if memory serves, the biggest gotcha has nothing to do with DEFTA's. Wasn't V5.5-2 a VAX ONLY release ??? I believe the AXP equivalent was 1.5 and the VAX and Alpha streams "merged" again in 6.0. Again, that is from memory, so please check the SPD. /mj |
