Hello, The DECconcentrator 500 supports RFC 1285 (old FDDI MIB), a customer wants to know if it will support RFC 1512 (current FDDI MIB) and if so, in what version of the firmware. Thanks in advance, Peter.

The DEFCN does NOT support 1512, nor will it ever. There are some issues with the reporting (not with the OPERATION - just REPORTING) of dual-homing that can only be fixed by implementing a newer version of CNS code and a general upgrade to 1512. This was discussed with the Product Manager over a yeasr ago and it was decided that the effort to impement that upgrade was not justified. I have a memo to that effect from the PM, dated 6-Feb-1995. Please note that, subsequent to that date we have stopped selling all variations of the DEFCN except for the 6 port MMF line card. The chassis (were the firmware resides) is retired. /mj | |||||
