I recieved the following inquiry via email from one of our Distributors. Any insighs would be appreciated. Regards, kam "I was wondering if you may check your sources on a couple of throughput specifications for me. I have a customer who has two VAX 4000's and would like to cluster them over FDDI. The only way to do that is over the a Q-bus FDDI adapter (DEFQA). I know the published spec on that adapter is 1.8MB/s, but do you have any real numbers on what I can bump through it? If we were to use the embedded ethernet on the VAX 4000 (SGEC), what is the real life throughput on that? The published spec is 1.2MB/s. The customer would like to shadow 40GB of storage across FDDI, do you know of anyone who has done that? Any help you can offer is appreciated." Also posted in Cluster conference.

13Mbps. That's it. DSSI is faster, 4MBps. 2 DSSIs, 8MBps, etc. |
