Hi,
I got problem to connect a Cisco 4500 to DECconcentrator 900MX Multi Mode
When I make a cableconnection between the Cisco 4500 DAS MultiMode and the
Concentrator the left Phy led on the Concentrator starts to blink green
for about 30 seconds to 3 minutes. During this time the Concentrator counts
Elasticity Buffer Errors. After the connection is established it seems to
work.
I tried several DECconcentrator 900MX with the same result. I replaced the
Cisco FDDI Interface with Spares, but same result. I can reproduce the problem
with different CISCO 4500 and different FW Versions.
I see no problem when I connect the CISCO to:
DECswitch 900EF
GIGAswitch
DECbridge 620
DECconcentrator 500
Any Ideas ?
Regards Juergen

I just received a Cisco 4000 with an FDDI NPS module for testing
purposes from Cisco. I've reproduced the connection problem and we're in
the process of analyzing the problem. Looks to be a clock synchronization
issue and its on the hairy edge as some DECconcentrator 900 (6X,
HU, HM) modules work with the Cisco and some don't. Latest word is that
the problem exists with the GIGAswitch/FDDI also. More later.

Any Idea of time scales for a fix ? My customer has two switches sitting
idle.
Thanks

We should have code to test tomorrow. The problem looks to be a
transient condition during connection initialization which causes an
elasticity buffer error to be logged. This triggers the restart of
the connection process.
More details later.
