Please clarify - do you mean an AlphaServer running OpenVMS with a DEFPA
can not be remotely booted over the FDDI, or that it can not act as a boot
server for other systems, or both ??

| Boot support consists of console boot support and a VMS boot driver so that
a system can boot over the DEFPA. This support is in V6.2-1H1 for Sable,
Gamma, Lynx and will be there for other systems in V7.1.
To act as a boot server for other systems only requires a driver for the
DEFPA, a runtime driver.

I know what a "SABLE" is, but what are the rest ?????
I have a Client that has just recently installed an AS2100A 5/300, with VMS
V6.2. He is ordering several AW600 5/333's and plans to FDDI them all
together into a Cluster (booting off of and sharing the 2100's Disks), only
Page & Swap will be local on the AW600's. He will be using the "DEFPA-DA"
in the 2100 and "DEFPA-AA" in the 600's, with a concentrator somewhere in
the middle.
Is this presently supported ????
Is it supportable ????
Any "BEWARE" Of's ????
Any recommended Patches ????
Thanks in advance,
Chris 8^)

"Gamma" is the CPU/motherboard upgrade to the AlphaServer 2100 (aka
Sable). I think the Gamma uses a EV5 or better Alpha processor.
I'm not sure what "Lynx" is, but I believe it's the new motherboard
that offers more PCI slots than the Sable's "3".

| Sable, Gamma, Lynx are all 2100 variants.

The 2100A isn't supported in V6.2. It is in V6.2-1H1 and there is DEFPA
boot support in that release. V6.2-1H1 supports the other 2100s as well,
with boot support for the DEFPA.
>>Any recommended Patches ????
None that I know of.
