I need some help with tring to find the proper cables needed for the following FDDI adapter. My customer has a DEFAA-YA with two DEFXS-AA's mounted to it. The DEFXS-AA's have little round connectors with protective caps that screw off. The problem is they use a different type of connector on their FDDI, which is a MIC connector. Is there an adapter cable that will convert the connector on the DEFXS-AA to a MIC? Would you include the part number if you have it? Thanks, Mike

There's a reply somewhere in this conference with a current (at the time) list of Open DECconnect part #'s that are FDDI-related. My advice would be to get a catalog and look for a MIC to ST cable. The ST connectors are the small round connectors that you were referring to. /l | |||||

If the connectors on the DEFXS-AA screw off, then your customer has an older vintage Single-mode PMD - the one with FC connectors. We do not sell single-mode cables. But any reputable fiber cable house should be able to sell a cable that has FC connectors on one end and a MIC connector on the other. Our documentation should have pointers to some cable vendors - ATT, Siecor, 3M. Our newer SMF PMD, the DEFXS-BA has the ST connectors that Larry described in the previous note.
