Hi, I hope someone here can help, we have a 2100 running Digital UNIX 3.2, an Ethernet module and a DEFPA-DA FDDI module. I can get the system on the network via the Ethernet module, but not over the FDDI!! I did a netsetup to give the FDDI interface the same IP address that the Ethernet interface had, but still no joy. I'm no UNIX expert, is there something else I need to do? Is the fact that we are only using 1 port on the DEFPA causing a problem? As you can tell I'm no FDDI expert either, any help will be greatly appreciated. Steve Ross Ayr IM&T Support PS We have a good connection between the FDDI interface and the DEC concentrator.

This is not a problem as long as the port you're using has a solid green LED which indicates that a valid FDDI physical connection has taken place. /l

So as long as we have a solid green on the concentrator, and a solid green on port A of the DEFPA, port B is flashing, then we have a good connection to the FDDI ring, and therfore should be able to see other nodes on the ring. There is nothing special about the fact that we have a DAS adapter as opposed to a SAS adapter? Stevie.

I'd get a network analyzer if available to verify that you are indeed seeing traffic from all of the nodes. /l |
