One of our customer's is considering changing the Ethernet cards in his two Vax 400 Model 500a to DEFQA-SF FDDI cards. Given the performance limitation of the Q-Bus, is it worth the investment? What kind of throughput improvement would be expected? Thanks Rick

Absolutely NOT. the DEFQA has a thruput of 13Mbps. It's better to put 2 Ethernet controllers in with a PEswitch 900TX than to put in the DEFQA. The customer won't be pleased with the performance. | |||||
