1874.0. "DEFPA PROBLEM" by ISTWI1::SENYUZ () Thu Nov 23 1995 05:26

    Hi,

This is crossposted both in ETHERWORKS and WINDOWS -NT.

    We have a DEFPA-DA installed in a dual processor AS2100 4/275. The
system also has a mylex PCI raid controller and all were installed
about two weeks ago. The system is running NT 3.51 and SQL server.
Both the DEFPA and the built in ethernet controller are configured
but the system is connected to the lan through the UTP port on the
ethernet controller. DEFPA is not connected to anything yet and
both the ports are plugged by the black rubberplugs that I suppose
prevent dirt from getting in. The leds on the DEFPA are flashing
green. The problem that we have is,the system freezes for about four
second every three or four minutes. The mouse pointer cannot move
and sql clients get time out messages if they are trying to get
something from the server. CPU 0 peaks processor time at this time
while CPU 1 remains idle. When I remove the DEFPA from the network
adapter settings, the problem goes away. When the adapter is not
configured the leds are also off. I presume that all the drivers
are latest and suspect that it will go away when the DEFPA is
connected to an FDDI concentrator or to a loobback. Will someone
    please advise me on that?

    Regards
    Fatih
