1823.0. "DEFPA-AA on SABLE ALPHAVMS 6.2 ?" by 50595::JPULLER (Jens Puller MCS Hamburg ) Thu Oct 05 1995 13:02

	Hello You all,

	I can't get working a DEFPA-AA on a SABLE  which should be
	working as far I understood with ALPHAVMS 6.2.

	We updated the SABLE / ALpha 2100 4/200 to latest firmware
	level.

	Checking Cluster Communication via SDA ( show lan/full )
	an FWA1 device is created.

	We connected the LWL to the GIGAswitch and also to a
	Concentrator. We had two sets of LWL for this try.
	The PHY led does not change from blinking to contigues on.

	Is there some one who has some expirence with a configuration
	like this.

	What further action is probably requiered to make it running.

Try doing:

  $ define dcl$path sys$examples
  $ lavc$start_bus fwa0

If it now works and it wasn't before, let me know.

If it still doesn't work, I'd suspect a cabling problem or broken
module.

    	I had the possibility to check on a ALPHASTATION 400 the DEFPA-AA
    	just booting ALPHA VMS 6.2 without any further action.

    	The PHY LED was on with a loopback LWL and/or connected to a
    	DECswitch 900.
    	I will post here later the final solution. Have to wait for
    	customer go.
