1811.0. "Long & short RING INITS" by 51847::PALMANN (Jan Palmann C/S Comms. Copenhagen) Wed Sep 20 1995 07:57
Why are there "short" and "long" Ring Inits.?
Some claim contensions take about a 1000 claim's and some only takes 13.
( seen with an analyser on the ring )
My own theory is, that the long ones is coursed by the microcode in FDDI
interfases entering the ring. ( like they send claims for at least 2 usec's,
or for at least some number ),
The short claim contensions I belive, is when a TVX times run out in a
interfase.
But I would like to know for sure.
Long contensions looks like entry 1795.2
Short contensions looks like entry 1795.4
