1808.0. "DEFEA parts look different" by GIDDAY::STANISLAUS () Tue Sep 19 1995 08:23

    	Customer has a DEFEA (54-21503-02) on his system. When we went to
    change the part and ordered the above 54 P/N we got a box which said on
    the box the above 54 P/N. But the actual part inside the box is
    54-21497-02. The board looks almost the same except for a couple of
    ICs according to the customer. Are theses boards interchangeable ?

    The 54-21503-0x part is the revision 2 DEFEA while the 54-21497-0x is
    the revision 1 DEFEA. The main difference at a user level is that the
    EISA configuration file used to configure the revision 2 DEFEA is
    !DEC3002.CFG while the file used to configure the revision 1 DEFEA is
    (naturally) !DEC3001.CFG. This is documented in the user's guide under
    the configure adapter section.

    All of our device drivers support both revisions, so you shouldn't have
    any trouble.
