1807.0. "DEFEA update on UNIX systems?" by TRN02::ALMONDO (Quid ut UNIX ?) Fri Sep 15 1995 08:52

    Hi,

Is there any pointer/info on how to upgrade (to rev 2.46) the
firmware of DEFEA-UA on a Digital UNIX Sable without moving
the card on an Intel system.

We have 28 system to be upgraded (many on them have the DMA
error problem) on a single customer site!

    Regards,
    Mario

I've read in other conferences that the August 95 release of the Alpha
firmware CD has both the latest DEFEA firmware image (v2.46) and a
utility for upgrading the adapter on Alpha systems.

I found on the release notes of Firware update 3.3 CD some info on
the DEFEA update but it seem to have as target system only the
DEC1000 (we have all 2100 & 2000 systems) and also there are no
documantation on how to upgrade the controllers on the CD.

Hmmm...I'd try the Digital UNIX or OpenVMS conferences.

Boot the CD as if you were upgrading the 2100 firmware. It will see the
DEFEA and give you the option of upgrading the DEFEA.
