1789.0. "DEMFA fatal error on AlphaServer 8400" by CSC32::J_SOBECKI (John Sobecki, DTN 592-4101, CXO3-2/D2) Thu Aug 24 1995 22:05
Hello,
OpenVMS AXP V6.2, AlphaServer 8400, DEMFA controller getting fatal
errors.
It looks like a bad board, but 2 separate systems have had the same
symptom, the system hangs, and can't be halted with Control-P.
The errorlog entry is listed below.
Any info on this type of controller error?
Thanks,
John Sobecki

Hi John,
I remembered this one.. we had an issue with one of our customers
some time ago, which was fixed with if I remember correctly another
version of the device driver. I was only interested in this problem
then; I was not directly involved.
Seen notes 908.* and 1229.* for more info. You could also try to
contact hlfs00::(sieds)eitens.

| This error hasn't been seen before that I know of other than at a couple of
sites which have an outstanding CLD on it. I'd be curious if this problem
occurred with the non-FDX version of firmware loaded and what changed. I
presume they didn't see the problem and now they do - did they upgrade VMS
or the DEMFA firmwmare?
