1787.0. "help: 2 x DEFZA back to back on OpenVMS/AXP 6.1" by ROMTSS::MORRONE () Wed Aug 23 1995 09:33

Hi all,

I saw many notes talking about point-to-point FDDI confi-
guration, but since I'm not sure I've understood every-
thing on the subject could someone please help me to get
an answer to the following questions:

1) Can I connect 2 x DEFZA-AA (installed on 2 x DEC 3000
   model 400 systems) in a point-to-point FDDI configura-
   tion within OpenVMS/AXP 6.1 (FDX option enabled by de-
   fault) ?

2) If yes, can the following configuration be a working
   configuration from an Ethernet transfer splitting
   point of view?

             +------------------+       & Shadow data

                                        other Ethernet

 Any help will be very appreciated.
 Thanks indeed in advance,

 Maurizio

    According to everything I know, .0 is correct for DEC 3000 systems
    only. However, I don't believe it's a DEFZA, but a DEFTA, where "T"
    stands for Turbochannel.

    Only TC FDDI have full duplex enabled by default.
1787.2It's REALLY a DEFZAROMTSS::MORRONEFri Aug 25 1995 04:3318
It's REALLY 2 x DEFZA-AA point-to-point configuration.

DEFTA is the replacement for DEFZA, but since Customer
ordered a TC-Fddi controller more than one year ago He
got DEFZA modules.

Then, important questions are now the following:

- is DEFZA able to work in FDX ?

- and if Yes, is FDX option enabled by default?

- and if No, how can I enable FDX option?

Thanks again for any help.

Cheers, Maurizio
