No, I believe the 4610 is the one and only Futurebus system which
required a very specific FDDI controller. Only DEC 3000 systems are
Turbochannel systems.

"You need a DEFAA"
I forgot to add that the 4610 is to be upgraded to a 4720 next week.
Will that make a difference?

1775.5 | What about Alpha 3400s and DEFTA? | DV780::VIGIL | Williams VIGIL, y que mas? | Thu Aug 17 1995 15:29 | 18 |
| What about the operating system? From the DEFTA-AA blurb:
"DEC FDDIcontroller/TUBOchannel models DEFTA-AA,... are supported under the
following Digital... operating systems ONLY:
Digital OSF/1...
Use of models DEFTA-AA,... with operating systems other than those listed...
can result in unreliable operation, including loss of data."
This in in the Release Notes dated June 1994, firmware version 2.2.
Is this still true? Customer is running OpenVMS V6.1 on a 3400S Alpha
and has the DEFTA-AA in hand and wants me to install it. ^^^^^^^^^^^

1775.6 | V6.1 + patch supports DEFTA-* | STAR::STOCKDALE | | Fri Aug 18 1995 07:51 | 5 |
| Alpha VMS V6.1 has support for the DEFTA-FA. V6.2 has support for all of variants.
(I think V6.1-1H1 and 1H2 have it also). There is a TIMA kit available which
provide support for the variants for V6.1, called AXPLAN something.
