Cross posted in FDDI, ARPA_INTERNET and HUB_MGNT conferences
Configuration:
DECswitch900EF , PCs on ethernet , Ultrix(V4.4) stations on the
FDDI (DEFTA) . PCs boot using RARP to get IP addressing. Ultrix station
is the RARP server.
Problem:
RARP packets are not being responded to. Looks like the RARP packets
are not being passed to the FDDI ring. Packet filter on the Ultrix host is
set to promiscuous mode ( pfconfig +p +c -a ).
A sniffer shows the RARP packets being sent but no response received.
When the Ultrix node was on the ethernet the PCs booted fine .
There are no filters set on the DECswitch.
Any idea what may be the cause of this problem ?
