1718.0. "DEFEA card fault" by 36677::GINGER (Ron Ginger) Thu Jun 15 1995 12:52
We have 14 2100's, all with 2 FDDI DEFEA DAS cards.
We had a machine panic and crash. The stack dump showes it was in a fda
interrupt service routine when it crashed.
We tried to re-boot the machine and the console firmware could not
complete the self test. We got thru the memory test but then got to
the following:
Testing the system
interrupt through vector 670 on cpu0
C-bus read data parity error
invalid C-bus address
....folowed by pages of stack dump.....
The system would then re-start self test, only to encounter the error
and dump again. We tried power off/on a couple times, but it continued
to loop.
About 30 minutes later we re-booted an adajacent macine on the FDDI
ring, and this machine immediaetly completed self test, re-booted, and
has had no error since.
Is there any way a DEFEA card could 'remember' some kind of fault
across a couple power cycles, then get reset when the ring did an
initalize?
