1716.0. "Ultrix v4.4, DECndu upgrade DEFCN gets mop error" by CSC32::B_GRUBBS () Tue Jun 13 1995 20:30

Customer on Ultrix 4.4 is trying to upgrade a DECConcentrator 500
with the latest firmware (v3.4a) using NDU.

    He is issuing this command:

    decndu -i -v -n -c fza0 -u 08-00-2b-xx-xx-xx /usr/kits/fcn340_a/defcn34a.sys

He gets back and error from mop: no response from target.
He can issue the decndu -s to show device against that defcn without
    	any trouble.

    ideas?

    thanks,

This may be similar......

I recently discovered that I was unable to install the latest DEFEB firmware
on a bridge that I had previously updated numerous times without any problems.
What was different was that I had replaced the ethernet adapters in by
VAX-6000's with FDDI adapaters. Like you, I could SEE and INTEROGATE the
remote device, but I couldn't UPDATE it. The short term fix was to run NDU
from another system with an Ethernet adapter. The long term fix was to replace
NDU with the current version of NDUplus.

thanks for the tip, Mike. We'll give both a try.

Bert,

My experience has only been with the VMS version, but assuming there is SOME
similarity, NDU V3 was replaced by NDUplus, V1.0

just an update.....DECndu+ v1.0 for ultrix, and NOT using the -n
switch on the decnsup command to load the DEFCN worked great.

    thanks for all the help!
