1685.0. "DEFAA PHY PORT in INTERNAL LOOPBACK instead of ON" by GIDDAY::STANISLAUS () Thu May 11 1995 22:57
A customer has a DEC7000 system with a future bus FDDI adapter -
DEFAA. The system is running VMS ver 6.1, DECnet OSI ver 6.1 with ECO #1.
The DEFAA is connected to a DC900MX, which in turn is connected to DECswitch
900EF and Ethernet.
Everything is running OK.
When I do MC NCL SHOW FDDI STATION FDDI-0 LINK * ALL
and look at the status, I see the status as ON. So far so good.
When I do MC NCL SHOW FDDI STATION FDDI-0 PHY PORT * ALL
and look at the status, I see the status as INTERNAL LOOPBACK, although
I will feel more comfortable If I see ON there.
Another colleage of mine said that he noticed the same symptom as above
on DEFQA (Q bus FDDI adapter) installed in a system running VMS ver 5.5-2H4
with DECnet/OSI version 5.8. This system again had no problems from the user
side, except that the word INTERNAL LOOPBACK is confusing.

| In a future release of VMS, we will correct this deficiency, no later
than V7.1 (summer '96).
