| | Hi. I'm the developer for that driver. When you say that you have
    network driver errors, what do you mean? Does your connection time out
    or are you seeing corruptions or disk access problems with particular
    files?

    What else do you have installed in this system? Remove any
    extraneous options. Also, try changing the IRQ to something else and
    set the Latency Timer to 88h instead of leaving it at the Default.

    Let me know how it goes.

| 1649.2 | some extra info on problem | KAOFS::S_GAGNON |  | Tue Apr 11 1995 17:41 | 24 |
|  |     Hi Larry!

    -	Does your connection time out or are you seeing corruptions or disk
    access problems with particular  files?

    It looks more like a timeout. I have also tried with xcopy, and the
    message "general failure reading drive n" show up.
    		"abort, retry , fail"

	We answer "abort" and after we still have access to the drive.

	no file corruption has been observed

    	- What else do you have installed in this system?

    	  only a de205 and the defpa is in the PC but it's not used when the
     DEFPA is used...we have also tried without the de205 in the PC

    	- The latency timer is still set 88h
    	- Only the irq 10 has been tried

    ** when errors occurs, the ethernet segment is used at about 50%

| 1649.3 | DEFPA driver problem | KAOFS::S_GAGNON |  | Tue May 30 1995 09:15 | 8 |
| | A problem with the DEFPA driver has been discovered. The problem was
    showing up much faster with slower CPU.

    	The version that fixed our problem was a pre-release version that
    we received from the group who write the driver. So, version higher than
    2.4 should fix this problem

| 1649.4 | Defpa problems with PCXL and WNT3.51 | AUSSIE::MCNAMARA |  | Wed Jul 10 1996 19:39 | 12 |
|  |     G'Day All,
    		I have a very similar problem to note .0. Same type of PC
    but running WNT3.51 SP3. TCP/IP ping,connections to servers via FDDI to
    ethernet bridge (DECswitch 900) work fine. Connection to servers on the
    FDDI hang when trying to display the directory. If the PC does not have
    permission to access the share it connects just fine.

    I have tried both v2.5 and V2.7 of the defpa driver.

    Any ideas?

    Regards Scott

    What kind of servers are you attaching to on FDDI? Are you going DEFPA
    to DEFPA? Windows NT 3.51 to Windows NT 3.51?

    Run File Manager and bring up properties on the

    		\WINNT35\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\DEFPA.SYS

    file. I want to verify that you have the latest driver installed.

| 1649.6 | DEFPA to DEFEA and WNT351 | AUSSIE::MCNAMARA |  | Fri Jul 12 1996 00:49 | 19 |
|  |     G'Day Larry,

    The server is a DEC 2000 running WNT351 SP2 and a DEFEA connected SAS
    to a DECconcentrator 500 to the ring then via a DECswitch 900 to the
    PC.

    The PC is running WNT351 SP3. We have tried IRQ 15 and IRQ 5.

    DEFPA.SYS Dated 28/05/96 18:29:34 Version 1.82 Size 29,024.

    We had to change back to ethernet for the moment but can try any tests
    after hours.

    I have an ALPHAstation 400 with a DEFPA and I can connect to the server
    fine, but if I try a share on the PC I get the same results. ie. file
    manager hangs.

    Thanks & Regards Scott

|  |     G'Day Again,
    		The DECswitch is for the Ethernet connection, for the FDDI
    the PC connects via UTP to a DECconcentrator 900 on the ring.

    Regards Scott
