1647.0. "FFDT 'FDDI Full-Duplex Technology' enabled?" by CSC32::J_SOBECKI (John Sobecki, DTN 592-4101, CXO3-2/D2) Thu Apr 06 1995 15:37

    Hello,

    In a DEFPA to DEFTA point-to-point FDDI connection, is there any way
    (software, SDA, etc.) to tell that the adapters are running in FFDT
    mode, ala with 'FDDI Full-Duplex Technology' enabled?

    I reviewed the SDA SHOW LAN/FULL info, is this displayed with the device
    status/char/flags information?

    It's OpenVMS on a AXP 2100 (DEFPA) to a AXP 3500 (DEFTA).

    Thanks,
    John Sobecki

    Hello,

    Thanks for the pointer to the SDA information, now that I have the
    output that does not show FDX enabled, what can I check next?

    It's a point-to-point SC-cabled connected DEFTA to a DEFPA, VMS V6.1.

1647.4SET DEVICE/FULL_DUPLEX in LANCP?CSC32::J_SOBECKIJohn Sobecki, DTN 592-4101, CXO3-2/D2Thu Apr 20 1995 17:5229
    Hello,

    I noticed in the latest LANCP.EXE OpenVMS T6.2 kit, there is a SET
    DEVICE /FULL_DUPLEX command option, so I copied over the latest LANCP
    image, and tried it:

    LANCP> set device/full_duplex fwa0
    %LANCP-W-FDXSUP, Full duplex not supported on this device, FWA0

    LANCP> show device/revision

    Device revision EWA0:  Not available

    Device revision FRA0:  322E3320

    Device revision FWA0:  322E3436

    Also failed on the DEFEA adapter:

    LANCP> set device/full_duplex fra0
    %LANCP-W-FDXSUP, Full duplex not supported on this device, FRA0

    Any insite into this problem? Looks like the SYS$FWDRIVER is not quite
    ready to implement this option, or maybe because I don;t have anything
    on the other end that is FDX capable?

    Thanks,
    John Sobecki

What version of VMS are you running? I don't think that full duplex
stuff in LANCP and the LAN drivers works until FT3 or later of V6.2.

1647.6works in V6.2-FT3CSC32::J_SOBECKIJohn Sobecki, DTN 592-4101, CXO3-2/D2Mon May 08 1995 12:587
    Hello,

    I re-tested with under V6.2-FT3 and the SET DEVICE/FULL_DUPLEX command
    in LANCP worked!

    Thanks,
    John
