1617.0. "DUAL HOMING configuration" by ATYISA::ALLUCHON () Thu Mar 09 1995 14:01
I have a FDDI config and I don't know if it works.
It is a DUAL HOMING configuration.
In order to make you understand it more easily, you will find the following
figure :
========= A B====== Dual Ring
! !
!--------------------!
! Concentrator 900MX !
!--------------------!
M M

A B A B
! ! ! !
-------------- ----------------
! 900EF ! ! 900EF !
-------------- ----------------
In fact I use this configuration in order to limit the number of M concentrator
ports. I am obliged to use also two different Hubs with 2 900EF in
order to have 12 ethernet segments.
If we looks at the FDDI matrix configuration, it seems to works well. But, in
fact I am really in doubt.
So, does it works?
NB: this note has been added in the HUB Management conference.

This does not work, because the fddi connection rules require that
the stations take the tree (A-M or B-M) connections over the peer
(A-B or B-A) connections.
