| Do you have to use MIC connectors on the concentrator? UTP is much much
cheaper.
Why use the dual attachment? Do you have two rings?
Use the BN24D-xx to go from the ST connector DEFTA-FA to NIC.
For OSF/1 V3.0, the DEFEA (EISA) is the only choice since the DEFPA
support is only in V3.2 or later. But if you could use the DEFPA
then you should. That's requires a cable which Digital doesn't sell
but you can use a BN34A-xx and a BN23D-xx with ST barrel connectors
to make a cable.
But in reality, buying the UTP versions of the boards and UTP ports for
900MX is cheaper than buying the MMF versions of the boards. And UTP
cables are much much easier to get/make than fiber.

| Yes, I am using two rings.
I got some information from my customer, and your help will be really
appreciated.
My customer don't want to heard about UTP, only STP or Fibre Optic.
Can I use STP cable with the DECconcentrator DEFUX-AA, and the PEswitch
TX ?
My customer absolutely wants that all the stations (DEC 200 4/166) and
servers DEC 2100 4/275 have a dual FDDI attachment, it is for High
availability reasons.
I know, that for the servers I can use the DEFPA-DA, or the DEFEA-DA
FDDIcontroller, but for the station DEC 200 4/166 can I use the
DEFPA-DA ? Perhaps I will have to run OSF/1 V3.2, is it true ?
I have the same question, if I use DEC3000-300X station, can I use the
DEFTA-DA ?
Thanks for help
