1555.1 | DEFPA fiber options use SC connectors | NETCAD::STEFANI | Welcome to the Revolution! | Fri Jan 20 1995 15:34 | 14 |
| >>One of our customers i going to buy DEFPA-DA PCI/FDDI cards. I'd like to
>>which type of connectors are used (I have read somewhere in this conference
The DEFPA-AA (SAS MMF) and DEFPA-DA (DAS MMF) options use SC optics.
>>about two type of MIC connectors). The second question is if we are able to
>>sell him cables to connect DEFPA-DA to ST connectors.
I believe DECconnect will carry them soon. See note 1423.3 for a list of
suppliers, or check with the PM (George Nielsen) at DELNI::G_NIELSEN.
We've purchased SC to ST connectors from outside vendors before, so I know
they're commercially available.

1555.3 | SC connectors ???? | 51488::SOHLMAN | Jouko Sohlman , NIS Helsinki Finland | Fri Feb 03 1995 05:26 | 15 |
| Hello !
I looked from the Networking Catalogue (winter 94-95).
The text is talking about the duplex SC connectors for
DEFPA-DA/AA, but in the picture of the adapters the connectors are
shown as duplex FC!! (as far as I know).
Look at the same Catalogue, there is also our new Turbo/ATM-
adapter (DGLTA-FA) and it is using FC connectors, they look
pretty much the same as the connectors in the DEFPA-DA/AA!!
Is it a typo?

I don't know what "duplex FC" connectors are, but yes, we are using the
same connectors as the GIGAswitch/ATM and ATM TurboCHANNEL adapter
products. I know them as "SC" connectors. Perhaps Dick can post a reply
explaining the difference?

1555.5 | FC == Single-mode | NPSS::KIRK | | Fri Feb 03 1995 12:41 | 9 |
| FC connectors have been used on our Single-mode products. I am not aware
of any of our multimode products that use FCs. It's a simple hearing
error to confuse 'SC' with 'FC'.
I will look at the new Networks handbook.
