1551.0. "How many Ring Purge on a Ring" by 54831::VANDENBERG_R () Wed Jan 11 1995 07:21
Hi,
After reading the notes about viod frames and Ring Purger, I still have
one question:
If most of the time we are not able to control which station is enabled
for ring purging (some are enabled by default other are not), what is
the impact of having lots of station working has ring purger on a Ring.
Is it as for T.R. a mechanism to elect an Active Ring Purger with all
other in stand-by. From what I understand there is a Claming and
Election mechanism, is this describe somewhere ?
Thanks in advance,
Robert

If the ring purger is enabled in more than one station, these stations
will elect one of the purgers to be the active purger. Then others will
be in standby mode.
