A customer has a VAX4000-700 pathworks version 4 running over the embedded Etherent controller and there are over 80 PCs in the network and the customer says response is acceptable for Pathwork users. Then he installs a DEFQA and connects it upto a DC900 in a DEChub 900 and bridges FDDI to Ethernet and says that the Pathwaorks server response is bad. I don't believe the reason is because DEFQA sist on the Q bus and the Q bus is slow. The LRPSIZE is 4541. Is there a simlar configuration - DEFQA and VAX4000 running Pathworks anywhere - to provide me with some information that I need to compare. Alphonse

The response was bad not only for Pathworks but also for LAT on
FDDI.
Problem fixed by installing LAT CSCPAT0511 ver 3,6 and by disabling RING
PURGING on the DEFQA and by making the the DECbridge 900MX do the RING
PURGING function. Not sure which one of these two actions fixed the
response time problem using the DEFQA.
