What options are available for a customer who wishes to upgrade an existing 10BaseFL link to an FDDI link? Does he need to have the cable re-terminated with MIC connectors? Are there ST to MIC adapters available?

Yes, there are ST to MIC adapters that can be purchased. I don't believe that we have them in our catalogue, but they do exist. The most important difference is that the FDDI runs in the 1300 nm window, and 10BASE-FL runs at 850 nm. So, they will need to proof out the cable plant to be sure that it meets the FDDI specs in this window. ee Note number 1742 in the Hub management file for more info |
