| Between OSF/1 systems it will work. It should work with VMS but only
if they have fixed their bug which prevented it from working.

| I did the same thing with OpenVMS AXP and 2 DEFTA's about six months
and it worked just great. Just don't try to add a third station.
It just doesn't work.

Unless all three are connected directly to a Digital GIGAswitch which
supports FDDI FDX mode on a per port basis.

1520.4 | point to point with DEFEA ? | LYOISA::GAUDIEZ | | Mon Dec 12 1994 09:56 | 12 |

I need to connect two AlphaServer 2100 4/275 within a FDDI link (Fiber
Optical).
I have the same questions that 1520.0.
Does DEFEA-AA interface support point to point connection, with OpenVMS
and with OSF/1.
What is the PMD for this interface.

Yes.

The DEFEA-AA uses an ANSI MIC multi-mode fiber transceiver. You'll
need a MIC-to-MIC cable that does the appropriate crossover.

1520.6 | BN24B not available | LYOISA::GAUDIEZ | | Tue Dec 13 1994 11:07 | 6 |
| Thanks for your help.
But I have another question about cable.
In my catalogue, the FO cable MIC to MIC is BN24b-xx but it is now not
available, it is in maintenance statut. Can you give me the new
reference for this cable.

1520.7 | What cable for point to point UTP FDDI ? | 12368::"[email protected]" | Jeff Dickens | Thu May 30 1996 11:10 | 9 |
| A third party testing firm has two systems we leased for them to
test some software for us.
They have DEFPA-UA's in both, and are running Digital Unix.
What cable should they use for a point-to-point connection?
Thanks...

The same cable they use for any other connection (cross-over Category 5
UTP).
If you need a Digital part #, try BN25H.
