In a normal situation, i.e. when we use the primary ring, how can we have information about secondary ring especially about port A status. For example, what's happen if there is a problem on port A when it is in backup state and when we switch to it after a primary ring failure ? Thanks, Richard

It sounds as though you are referring to a dual homed configuration of
a dual attached station. In that case, the A port continuously runs
the connection management sequence, with a Link Confidence test time
of 50 seconds. If it detects any failures it will disable the port,
and not fault over to it.
