I need connect ethernet to FDDI rings in single mode fiber.
I found two products :
- DEC bridge 518,
- DEC bridge 900 MX.
I have two questions about DECbridge for FDDI :
1/ Is DEC bridge 518 end of live ?
When will this product stop in manufacturing ?
How many time does this product stay in maintenance ?
2/ I look at the performance of the two products :
DECbridge500 DECbridge900MX
Filtering rate 460 000 14 880
Forwarding rate 14 880 460 000
The two datas are reversed. Is it true or false ? What are the
good datas ?

All excellent questions. I suggest you speak with Karl Pieper
(DELNI::PIEPER) regarding the end of life issues.

I don't see how this can be correct. Karl can probably point you to an
engineer who can give you the correct data.

| 1475.2 | Data for DECswitch 900EF (DECbridge 900MX) | 56821::BATTERSBY | Mon Oct 17 1994 15:10 | 10 | |
Bernard, the two sets of numbers filtering and forwarding
for the DECbridge 900MX (now called DECswitch 900EF) are:
The filtering rates are:
14,880 packets per sec for each Ethernet port.
460,000 packets per sec on the FDDI port.
The forwarding rate is an aggregate 60,000 pps.
