Hello A question on the ring purger election process: Configuration: Gigaswitch port 5----------------------Cisco Router Gigaswitch port 19--------------------Decconcentrator500 | | Silicongrafic Workstation Gigaswitch port 6,20,22,23 etc --------Fiber loopback Ring purger enabled on all ports Ring purger status Port 5 Candidate Port 19 Purger Port 6,20,22,23 etc Candidate Questions 1) I don't understand why port 5 doesn't become the ring purger, because it's the only one on that ring who can do the purging. 2) Why are all ports with a loopback ring Purger candidate Regards Gerrit 1

1466.1 | Known bug | NPSS::MDLYONS | Michael D. Lyons - Young enough and dumb enough | Thu Oct 06 1994 14:28 | 7 |
It's a bug, which I believe has been fixed, but not yet released. From the BL2.1 release notes: "In a two-station ring, if the non-GIGAswitch station does not support ring purger, a GIGAswitch system will fail to be elected ring purger."
1466.2 | Known bug, low priority | SCHOOL::RLEBLANC | Thu Oct 13 1994 16:39 | 7
This bug is not fixed and is currently low on the priority list to have this fixed. If this is extremely high priority for you please contact the product manager Dennis Majikas (school::Majikas).
1466.3 | how to see who... | CSC32::J_SHUMWAY | Fri Apr 07 1995 15:53 | 2
How do you determine who the elected ring purger is? I was not able to see this via SDA or NCL. |
