Hi, I'm trying to sell two FDDI products (DECconcentrator 900MX & DECFDDIcontroller /QBUS) which have SMT V7.2. My customer's network has FDDI boxes from Fibronics with SMT V6.1. My customer needs to know if both versions of SMT will interoperate without problems before installing our products. I've read one previous note saying that SMT V6.2 and V7.2 are full compatible, but I haven't seen anything about V6.1. Can anyone confirm if V6.1 & V7.2 are full compatible as well, please? Thanks in advance, Jose

>>Can anyone confirm if V6.1 & V7.2 are full compatible as well, please? I can't confirm if SMT v6.1 and v7.2 are compatible, but I would suspect that they are. Interoperability between the two SMT revisions was one of the goals of the SMT update. If no one here can answer, you may want to send mail to Ron Pashby ([email protected]). Ron run's the FDDI Interoperability Lab at Univ. of NH where a lot of the SMT compatibility testing took place. I'd also suggest that your customer contact Fibronics regarding an SMT code update, they may already have one. - Larry |
