1458.0. "CDDI PCI availability?" by 54831::GORREMANS (Dominique Gorremans, Brussels) Wed Sep 28 1994 09:35

    Hi,

I got a question from a partner of ours that is looking for PCI CDDI
cards. I thought this was under development. Can anybody tell me
    whether this is correct? Availability?

There was also the question of supporting this under MS-Windows and
NOVELL. Will there drivers available for these environments?

He needs to answer to a request for proposal before the end of the
week, so a very quick reply would be appreciated....

    Thanks,

    >>whether this is correct? Availability?

Yes, we have FDDI PCI adapters in development for SAS Fiber, DAS Fiber,
and SAS UTP. For more information, contact the product manager (George
Nielsen) at DELNI::G_NIELSEN. By the way "CDDI" is not precise. Our
FDDI adapters adhere to the ANSI TP-PMD standard for running FDDI over
Category 5 UTP cabling. "CDDI" has become (more or less) a marketing
term to describe the ANSI-compliant cards, though previously, "CDDI"
    referred to a proprietary implementation.

    >>There was also the question of supporting this under MS-Windows and
    >>NOVELL. Will there drivers available for these environments?

Absolutely. Current driver plans at FRS include:

    	OSF/1, OpenVMS AXP, Windows NT 3.5, DOS NDIS 2.0, OS/2 NDIS 2.0,
NetWare SFT III MSL, NetWare ODI Server, and NetWare DOS ODI Client

We're hoping to add more drivers as the product matures.

    Sell, sell, sell... :-)
