1444.0. "Concentrator900MX A/B to backplane problem" by LUX06::GLOESENER () Thu Sep 15 1994 16:18

    Hi,

    Trying to pot the A/B ports of a DECconcentrator900MX both to the
    backplane results in only one connection for the LAN interconnect.
    What should I do to get both ports to link the concentrator in a
    Backplane ring ?

    You should ask this in the HUB_MGNT notes file.

    To make a long story short, this is a feature of HUBWATCH and the
    DEChub 900 hub manager. You can direct A or B or both A&B into
    the backplane (no longer on front panel). HUBWATCH presents you
    with a single line to connect to a FDDI channel in the backplane
    irregardless of whether A or B or both are to go to the backplane.
    The hub manager takes care of the A to B and B to A rules for you.

    When you get several FDDI modules in the hub and due to configuration
    requirements, ie. some ports must be front panel and some backplane,
    I'd rather let the hub manager take care of it for me. Also its
    easier to see which modules are connected to which FDDI assuming
    2 or more FDDI's in a hub.
