I have a customer running ELMS V1.1 and he gets the following output when he
uses the command 'ELMS> SHOW MAP VIA FCONC_180A'. He gets the same erors
against the same devices when he tries going via a differenent concentrator 500
The FDDI devices are a mixture of the old 500/600 devices and the newer 520/620
devices. Does anyone know what the error means and is it any cause for concern?

| The "error" is a message from ELMS that indicates that it thinks that
the SIF frame is formatted incorrectly. Early in the FDDI work, we
found that many vendors were sending incorrect frames, so, we did
a lot of work to correlate known configurations with the SIF frames
they were actually sending. We then drew the map (e.g. for a DAS)
for what we thought waas the configuration, knowing that there was
a mistake in the SIF frame. The "error" message was an attempt to
highlight that error.
This is nothing to worry about; it hs no performance impact of any
kind. I can't remember what state SMT was in when ELMS was
discontinued. My guess is that the message now reflects some additional
info in the latest SMT that wasn't present in SIF messages at the time
of the ELMS phase out.
Once again- this is nothing to worry about.
