1389.0. "DEFCN Terms LINE vs PORT" by CTHU41::M_MCNAMARA (Mike McNamara 640-7317) Thu Jun 30 1994 15:27
I have a question from a customer regarding the DEFCN, they would
like to understand the difference between the "LINE" and "PORTS".
I have seen one note that discribes the line as the MAC, however this
description is far to brief for the customer, can the LINE definition
be expanded for a introductory explanation that can be communicated to
the customer.
When connected to the concentrator via the OBM port and using the show
menu item, the line appears related to port 1.
The show PHY port allows for a sub menu port selection of 1a,1b, 2a
etc, what do these relate to.
Any pointers to newtwork documents that assist in understanding these
terms would be appreaciated.
Thanks
Mike M.
