I have a customer with a D5120, ULTRIX v4.4 and a DEFTA, which act as a NFS- server. This system hangs intermittently with reboot as the only way to clear the fault. Nothing is written to the errorlog. Can I find a patch to this anywhere or does the patched if_fza.o fix the problems related to DEFTAs too? Nearly the same problem is mentioned in note 1357 in this conferance but since it has got no replies I choosed to write a new note. Regards DEC norway Terje Soreide

1375.1 | Can an open DEFTA/FDDI-port cause hangs? | BGO02::TERJESO | Tue Jun 14 1994 09:56 | 5
I have some additional info. about this problem. After talking to the customer today he mentioned that the FDDI-port had been unused/open during the period of intermittent hangs. I wonder if this could cause problems like this? Terje

This appears to be exactly the sort of behaviour I fixed in the replacement if_fta.o which should be available from the CSCs. Megan |
