| The VMScluster Software SPD for OpenVMS VAX V6.1 mentions the DEFZA as
supported, but the VMScluster SPD for OpenVMS AXP V6.1 only mentions the DEFTA.
You could check with the VMScluster Product Manager, Nick Carr (STAR::NCARR).
The DEFZA does lack DMA capability on transmit (although it has DMA on
receive), so it would be better suited for a client than a server. The DEFTA
is preferred, as it does DMA in both directions and thus requires less
host CPU overhead.

1339.2 | DEFZA-CA again..... | CSC32::J_SHUMWAY | | Thu Sep 15 1994 12:42 | 4 |
| Is a DEFZA-CA supported in a LAVC? Sorry, but I am confused and
customer has DEFZA-CA getting fatal error 9 in SDA on 8 nodes.
SCA is only protocol running on the device. Whats the scoop? It
appears that the DEFZA-AA was replced by DEFTA but what about the -CA?

| If "DEFZA-CA" adheres to the Green Book standard for running FDDI over
Thinwire, then this adapter has been replaced (more or less) by the
DEFTA-UA FDDI UTP controller which supports the ANSI TP-PMD standard
for running over Category 5 UTP.

| >>Who is/was the Product Manager for DEFZA-CA?
Either Sharon Oneill or George Nielsen was the PM for DEFZA. I believe
Dennis Majikas (SCHOOL::) has taken over responsibility.
