I have a 4000-90 system running OpenVMS 6.0. The system had FIS (factory installed Software) which I was able to configure and boot without any problem. Some days later the DEFTA came in and I installed it onto my Turbo channel card. From the console prompt you can see the device and it shows it Enet address but for some reason VMS never configures it. Reading through this note file I noticed that the firmware has to be at a certain rev. and that you use NDU to update but I can't update what I can't see. There was some mention about the FCdriver being "x-.7". When I analyze that image it is but it never gets loaded. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you! Gator

Hi, if I remember correctly, DEFTA isn't supported on OpenVMS V6.0 systems. It IS supported on OpenVMS V5.5-2H4 and >= V6.1 (Same thing as with all VAX 4000-x00A,...) Oetzi

Hello, Since we are close to the subject, does anyone know : 1.If a second DEFTA is supported in the 4000-90a ? 2.Are two DEFTAs supported in VMS version 5.5-2h4 or 6.1 ? Thanks, Z-man

The turbochannel bus (TCA) that plugs into the 4000-90 only has one turbochannel slot. So you cannot physically plug in two DEFTAs. The VMS driver for the DEFTA does not preclude more than one DEFTA, but it has never been possible to test it. |
